In a note posted to fans at www.ourladypeace.com, the group writes, “We feel that this is our most compelling recording since we formed this band. We now understand that the struggle to get here was not in vain.” More details about the new album, which is currently being recorded with producer Jason Lader in Toronto and Los Angeles, will be released in the New Year.
The initial reaction to “Heavyweight” has been swift and strong. Some programmers were so eager for new Our Lady Peace music that they purchased “Heavyweight” on iTunes and played it on their stations in advance of the song being formally serviced to radio.
In other news, OLP singer Raine Maida will receive the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit award during Canadian Music Week along with his wife, singer Chantal Kreviazuk in recognition of their longstanding commitment to charitable initiatives. Individually they have contributed to charities worldwide in support of human and animal rights, world peace, education and the environment.

Tune in to stream “Either Way” and order the record in digital or limited LP formats right here.
Bearing seven tracks containing over forty-three minutes of material, A Child Of Divorce was executed utilizing the talents of some of SO IS THE TONGUE‘s close friends and associates; the instrumental tracks recorded at The Thousand Caves by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice), the vocals recorded by Chris Alfano (East of the Wall) and the artwork completed by Nick Shellenberger (Cleric). A Child Of Divorce will be released on 180-gram LP format — limited to 300 copies — and deluxe digital download on January 17th, 2012, via Nefarious Industries, a tight-knit indie label recently formed by several friends who perform in SO IS THE TONGUE, East Of The Wall, El Drugstore and more.

(NEW YORK, NY) - Michigan rock band POP EVIL have released a brand new song today called “Unstoppable.” ESPN has debuted the track HERE. “We are very excited to announce the addition of two new songs to our iTunes Deluxe Version of ‘War of Angels‘: ‘Unstoppable’ and a new acoustic version of ‘Monster You Made,’” says front man Leigh Kakaty.
Kakaty continues, “We recently had a break from the road to go into the studio with Johnny K. We knew we wanted to release these tracks soon so our fans would have something to kick off the new year! They deserve it, they’ve been there for us through the thick and thin!”
“Unstoppable” is about the obstacles we dealt with as a band during the past year. Going through a six month battle with our former record label and the loss of our drummer were both stressful for us as a band. Despite these obstacles, we still managed to overcome them all while playing over 200 shows this year!”
Heavy Metal legend revolutionizes music lessons with new interactive app
LOS ANGELES, CA - Ranked No. 1 by Joel McIver in “The 100 Greatest Metal Guitarists,” Dave Mustaine godfathered fast-heavy-metal guitar generations, first as the original lead guitarist for Metallica, and then as the founder of legendary Megadeth.
Now, Mustaine has teamed with the creators of Rock Prodigy to give his legions of fans an entirely new way to experience and learn his music. Available today on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, Dave Mustaine: Guitar Prodigy is an interactive application that teaches fans how to play Megadeth songs on ANY guitar.
Mustaine and his pro guitar team coach fans through each lesson. The application uses real master tracks and listens to every note played, providing instant feedback on your performance; it’s like taking private lessons with Dave.
There is truly no better way to appreciate music than to actually play it and Mustaine wants you to start shredding on guitar, saying, “If you have a guitar, if you can run an app, you will soon be playing classic Megadeth songs, like ‘Holy Wars’ and ‘Tornado of Souls,’ and also our new hit single, ‘Public Enemy No.1!’ I personally reviewed all of these songs, so no more bunk transcriptions and bad tabs; it’s just like having a private guitar lesson from me. Also with my app, you can actually slow the parts down to make sure they are perfect!!”
Dave Mustaine: Guitar Prodigy includes several Megadeth mega-shredding hits like “Tornado of Souls,” “Holy Wars… The Punishment Due,” and “Public Enemy No. 1” from Megadeth’s new album TH1RT3EN. Also included are a number of progressive bite-sized “Micro Lessons” created by Mustaine himself covering areas like rhythm, technique and theory revealing the true genius behind his music.
The app comes with multiple skill levels from beginner to advanced, and even features a leader board to show off top scores. Never before has there been an affordable way for a fan to get a one-on-one connection with the artist, to experience the music – by playing the music.

(http://tinyurl.com/col9vey) “I’m writing this post,” states Jesse Isreal of Cantora Records, “because I love that it was a music startup that first showed Cantora about Azealia – weeks before her ‘Best New Track‘ on Pitchfork. I smell more of this coming our way, where technologies (and recommendation tools) help us shape events and the bands we work with. If you haven’t tried Cull TV, go peep it.
