GLO RELEASES NEW SINGLE FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

Montreal, January, 2012 - The Montreal-based rock-alternative band GLO is back with a new single : “Don’t Believe”. The first single from GLO’s upcoming album “No One Hears Me” hits radio stations across Canada this week.
Written by GLO, three extraordinarily talented musicians, and produced by platinum-certified record producer John Nathaniel, “Don’t Believe” will soon be available on iTunes. Currently, the band is preparing for the album launch and shooting a new video. The 5 tracks album recorded in Montreal, “No One Hears Me”, will be out in April 2012.
About GLO :
Comprised of Eddie Mazzola (guitarist / keyboardist & bassist), Patrick Rowan (drummer) and Riccardo “Rick” Cordi (vocalist / rhythm guitars), GLO has had much success in Canada with their previous album called “On The Outside”. The lead single off that album - “Move Along” - took over the rock charts for four solid months — an accomplishment by any standards, let alone one for a completely autonomous band. Every recording on their previous CD — including the song “Move Along” was tracked, produced and engineered in Mazzola’s own studio, but for the final mix the group turned to veteran Los Angeles producer/engineer Paul Lani (Red Hot Chili Peppers & Megadeath).

HALIFAX’S BEN CAPLAN & THE CASUAL SMOKERS KICK OFF CANADIAN TOUR DATES IN SUPPORT OF NEW RELEASE THIS WEEK
November 10, 2011 by admin

After an astute performance at last week’s annual Nova Scotia Music Week in Yarmouth, NS, and a wildly successful European tour, Halifax’s Ben Caplan & The Casual Smokers launch a Canadian tour this week. To support the release of their stunning new release In The Time of the Great Remembering, the band is temporarily bidding the Maritimes adieu to play a number of dates throughout November with Montreal’s Charlotte Cornfield.
“In the Time of the Great Remembering is easy to like. It doesn’t take many listens to get to know it and have bits and pieces of Caplan’s gruffly romantic songs stuck in your head,” reviewed the Dalhousie Gazette.
“Halifax is my home but there’s something really special about taking In The Time of the Great Remembering on the road again, and I’m excited to have the opportunity to play these songs to audiences I don’t see quite as often,” says Caplan. “I’ve spent the last three months on the road promoting this record and it’s been a really wonderful experience, touring is one of the greatest parts about being a musician.”
This fall has already seen Ben Caplan gracing stages at Reeperbahn Festival in Germany and sweeping through the United Kingdom converting boat loads of new fans along the way. Caplan always makes it of importance to play on home soil. He managed to make appearances at both Pop Montreal festival and Halifax Pop Explosion as well.
Paying homage to classic blues with tones faintly lit by folk, this release demonstrates Caplan’s uncanny response to songwriting. It takes a listener through a soulful, rousing adventure with arrangements of musical prowess molded by the likes of Tom Waits and Bob Dylan. Tour dates and download links below!

BIO
Rugged, raspy, and roaring with charisma, Halifax’s Ben Caplan is to folklore what smoke is to bourbon. Perfectly coupled. Ben’s songwriting is as bold in range as it is in ferocity. Fueled by a quality of melodrama and powerful lyricism, it’s the romance and the manhood crashing with his voice that gives Caplan a truly innovative and experimental artistry. A sound that bridges the gap between controlled composition and unruly passion.
Striding in pace with gypsy-inspired strings amid the sultry tones of clarinet and saxophone, Caplan has marked his place in the Canadian music landscape with a growling spirit similar to that of Tom Waits. Caplan’s tours have extended throughout the Commonwealth, the rhapsodic energy in his live show an elegant cacophony gaining attention around the world .
Breaking between guitar, banjo, piano, and melodica, Caplan’s stage show is almost reminiscent of a burly and bearded Freddy Mercury; a raging, strong, and exploratory songwriter, it’s the blues in his soul, and the heart in your chest pounding as one that makes Ben Caplan & The Casual Smokers an act not to be missed.
Ben Caplan has been a touring musician since 2006. Seasoned in coast-to-coast travel, Caplan his seen stages in the UK and has performed a rolodex of festivals.

Canadian platinum-selling independent artist and four-time JUNO award winner deadmau5 will make history on November 5 as he will become the first Canadian artist as well as the first electronic artist to have a headlining concert at the Rogers Centre when he brings his state-of-the-art live tour show to Toronto (sample clip: http://youtu.be/9Rnd7c5DwgE). The history of the building has played host to many great musical events and concerts, such as headlining tour shows by U2, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay and the Concert For Toronto special event, but has never had a Canadian artist headline their own show at the venue. Accustomed to communicating with his millions of fans online, deadmau5 will also share the first 25 minutes of the tour finale show with a free live stream from http://live.deadmau5.com, marking the launch of his new live streaming website, produced by exclusive streaming partners, Influxis. This live stream will also take place in tandem with exclusive media partner, YouTube, with both airing the live portion of the performance at 12 midnight EST/9 PM PST/4 AM GMT.
Named after his cat Professor Meowingtons, deadmau5’s Meowingtons Hax 40+ date tour has broken several records already, beginning with its opening date in Chicago when he became the first electronic artist to co-headline the annual Lollapaloozafestival along with Foo Fighters. SPIN.com lauded his performance as the #1 set in The 10 Best Sets of Lollapalooza 2011 list and stated, “The level of spectacle that the Canadian electronic musician/producer commands is not just beyond any other electronic act, it’s beyond any other act period.”
Following Lollapalooza, deadmau5 set new records in Montreal and New York City within days of each other. In Montreal, he performed an unprecedented four consecutive shows at The Metropolis including a record three sold-out nights. His next tour market was New York City, where he performed an unprecedented six consecutive sold-out nights at RoselandBallroom. Rage Against the Machine held the previous honor with five consecutive plays at Roseland in the summer of 1996.
While on tour, deadmau5’s latest album, 4×4=12 (Ultra Music, December 2010) reached platinum sales status in his native country, making his release the only Canadian Anglophone album to achieve the prestigious accolade this year.
The Meowingtons Hax Tour has helmed headliner slots at Outside Lands and the Virgin Mobile FreeFest, as well as four sold-out consecutive shows at the legendary Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Other multiple sold-out datesinclude shows in Atlanta, Dallas, Boston and Chicago. Following in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones, deadmau5 alsoheadlined his first baseball stadium show at PETCO Park in San Diego this past October.

NEW ROSE RELEASES SANDMAN VIPER COMMAND’S ROUGH LOVE 7INCH APRIL 5th, PRE-ORDERS AVAILABLE NOW BAND SUPPORTING …AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD & SURFER BLOOD IN TORONTO MAY 3RD

Sandman Viper Command‘s much anticipated 7inch release will be released to the public on April 5th via New Rose. Pre-Orders are available now. Fans can stream the new songs on the band’s myspace now. The 7inch was recorded and produced by Jon Drew whose impressive resume includes Fucked Up, Tokyo Police Club, and Alexisonfire. The two new tracks displaySandman Viper Command‘s unique ability to reinvent rock n’ roll in a familiar way.
The title track “Rough Love” is an indie rock masterpiece; sprawling from theatrical simplicity to balls-out rock and roll explosions. Rob Janson’s vocals lead the listener through an extravagant journey touching on the trials and tribulations of love and lust. Fans who pre-order the record will receive a free copy of Sandman Viper Command‘s debut album, Everybody See This CD and a Sandman Viper Command poster.
The band sets out on a western Canadian tour next week where they will bring their visceral live performances to new stages. When they return home from tour, the band will celebrate their 7inch release on home soil. They will open for …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead and Surfer Blood at Toronto’s Lees Palace on May 3rd.
Sandman Viper Command have already received the nod of approval from critics alike. They were named a band to watch by MSN Canada, featured on the cover of Echo Weekly in Guelph, and nominated for a Hamilton Music Award. They will be playing the side stage at this year’s Edgefest and in the past have shared stages with the likes of Japandroids, Holy Fuck, Wavves, and many more.
BIO
When most kids their age were riffling through college textbooks and figuring out the path of least resistance towards some sort of stable income, these small town boys were riffling through their parents record collections, studying the messy emotion-fuelled rock of Pavement and the fuzzy post-rock discography of Sonic Youth, dreaming of ways they could marry it all together. So far it hasn’t worn off, being the average age of 21, they still have their collective sights set on a future a little bit more shaky and unstable than the rest of their peers.
In the beginning, the four best friends who make up the ambitiously named outfit (Rob Janson, Aaron Harvey, Dan Reardon, Matt Meyer) locked themselves up for days in their parents’ basements practicing and refining demos, only emerging when they had stumbled upon the most perfect blend of garage pop/guitar fuzz rock this side of the border has heard in a long time. It’s this obsessive compulsiveness in their music that pays off huge on their independently released debut, Everybody See This. In the same way the Strokes released a sonically moving debut album, it is apparent that this is much more than an average first run from a bunch of college dropouts. This is a band with a future. Everybody See This is ripe and bubbling with the type of youthful rage you can’t fake. It’s delicate and fragile in all the right places and thoroughly captivating from start to finish. In the same way they originally honed their sound, Sandman Viper Command isolated themselves for six months in a barn on the outskirts of Hamilton, Ontario with producer Dave King, recording intensely to make sure Everybody See This captured the raw, frenetic qualities of the band, and achieving that lofty childhood goal of creating a sound they can call their own.
Everybody See This has lots of variety, yet never sacrifices the consistency of the full release. Lead single “Strawberry Quick” is like a parasite, vague enough for any heartless teenager to fill in the gaps with their own lost stories of lust-filled nights. “Oh Yeah, It’s Fusion” is a right proper sing-a-long while balancing on the edge of being nerdy art rock and an angular ambient guitar jam.
And like any good band, a great album is followed up by a great live show. Young as they may be, put these four handsome musicians on stage and you have a band with a cohesive attitude. Their tight performance chops earned them opening spots for the likes of Holy Fuck, The Arkells, The Rural Alberta Advantage, and more.
It didn’t take their hometown of Burlington, Ontario and the surrounding cities long to pick up on this truly great find. Hamilton’s View magazine scribed, “Sandman Viper Command conjures up references to Sloan – but in a way that is still fresh… for a debut recording, this is a standout on so many levels… the band to watch in 2010″ and the Hamilton Spectator was quick to state, “”Everyone ‘gets’ Sandman Viper Command”. In an unconventional twist the band’s song “Yo Bobcat” debuted on the Fan590′s “Prime Time Sports” with Bob McCown, in what the band can only refer to as the “collapsing of a quantum waveform” presenting them with national coverage and since then SVC have even been referred to as the “house band” of the show, by Bob himself!
