It was the first year for a Best DJ category at the awards. LOU BRUTUS  was chosen over other nominees including Nikki Sixx, Paul Marshall, Brock Haven, and Greg Atoms. LOU BRUTUS is best known for his seventeen plus years of national syndication as well as his work on other national radio platforms. He has done local shows in Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington DC, and Providence.

Brutus has also hosted radio specials and/or created radio channels for Metallica, Slipknot, Stone Sour, Rush, Disturbed, Theory of a Deadman, Smashing Pumpkins, and countless others. He was the very first to give national airplay to innumerable bands includingSlipknot, Halestorm, Five Finger Death Punch and Sevendust.

LOU BRUTUS has garnered tremendous amounts of positive press for both his intensely creative on air work and ground breaking original programming… all without ever running afoul of the F.C.C. Publications such as Rolling Stone, USA Today and Entertainment Weekly have sung the praises of his work.

His creative flair has led him to national success as a performer in the Ohio State versus Michigan football rivalry band Dead Schembechlers with whom he has appeared on HBO. Lou is the group’s lead singer, songwriter and official mouthpiece, Bo Biafra. He is the lyricist of the world’s first cow punk rock opera, “Hee Haw Hell,” which was recorded by legendary swamp rock band Dash Rip Rock. Additionally, he has several baseball inspired pieces he’s written and recorded featured on the Diamond Cuts album series, which he released under the moniker of Lou Brutus and the Perfect Pachydermus Percussion Pitches. His latest musical foray is as the creator and lead singer of the Grumpy Old Punks, which he describes as “middle aged punk rock rage.” Their self-titled debut album “Grumpy Old Punks” was released in 2011 with the follow up “Anarchy in the Prostate” in 2012. In 2014, they’ll release their third EP “Driving Around with the Blinker On.”

He has also produced his own series of comic books, “The Adventures of Brutusman,” as well as bottled his own line of micro brewed beers “Lou-in-Brau” and “Brew Loutus Ale.”

In what little spare time he has, Lou is an accomplished photographer.  His lighthouse photography has graced magazine covers and has worked the last six seasons as an on field Major League Baseball photographer. He often shoots rock bands as he travels the world to interview them.

LOU BRUTUS is currently working on three different books. The first is a coffee table book of his backstage pass, ticket stub, guitar pick, and concert poster collection entitled “One Man – Two Thousand Concerts: The Greatest Freakin’ Collection of Rock Show Junk in History,” the second is an unauthorized autobiography Dead Schembechlers: The Rise, Fall & Redemption of The Best Damn Punk Band in the Landbeing co-written with Joe Oestreich, while the third is a baseball themed children’s book being illustrated by Alan MacBain.
